Since two weeks ago, disastrous events have been taking place in Ukraine; people have had to leave their country in order to be safe from the war, many people have lost their loved ones… and some of them were the ones that got lost on the way.
As we all know, this catastrophic event started on 24th of February, the National Day of Love in Romania. This tradition is not celebrated in neither Ukraine nor Russia, but still, it is a day dedicated to love. Where is the love when people are forced to leave their family, friends, pets and homes behind just to survive?
Looking back at some of the barbarous attacks that have endangered thousands of civilians, we can count the numerous bombings of apartment complexes, public spaces and even hospitals, as well as the capture of Chernobyl and other cities, such as Kharkhiv. These events have forced a big part of the Ukrainian population to leave their homes and migrate to other countries, leaving their close ones behind, especially men, since the martial law was implemented on 24th of February.
Although some of the refugee waves were overwhelming, countries have welcomed Ukrainian citizens warmly, where they were supplied with food, new clothes, medical assistance and a lot of love. Borders have even allowed refugees to go to other countries without a passport in order to ease the process of finding a safer place to stay..
Many of the refugees want to travel to other countries, such as Moldova andCyprus, but until their new journey starts, they are kindly welcomed in Romanian houses and asylums, and generous donations are made daily in order to provide Ukrainians with safety and comfortability.
