We are living in a developing world and creating new inventions that ease our lives, not only modern and technological innovations but also ancient discoveries that play a key role in our daily lives. When we are talking about ancient creations Egypt bears in mind.
It is important to note that we still use and write on paper on a daily basis. But do you know where it came from? The earliest paper-like material-papyrus sheets, had been invented in ancient Egypt as far back as the fourth millennium BCE, it was made from a plant called papyrus by arranging two layers of papyrus flowers, one atop the other, at right angles. The layers are then pressed together, and the gum released by the breakdown of the plant's cellular structure acts as a glue that bonds the sheets together.
On the other hand, we need something for writing on paper and not surprisingly, it came from Egypt as well. The Egyptians mixed vegetable gum, soot, and bee wax to make black ink, replacing the soot with other materials such as ochre to make various colors. The sickle, calendar, clock, surgical instruments, wigs, and cosmetic make-ups are the creations that they invented and passed through millenniums to us to ease our daily life.
Egyptians were great engineers as well! One of the original seven wonders of the world — The Great Pyramid of Giza — was also built by Egyptians. This pyramid was made as a tomb of the Fourth Dynasty pharaoh Khufu, and it dates back to 4500 years ago. Because of its height (146.6 m (481 ft) or 280 cubits), it was called the highest man-made structure. Not only its height makes it special. Ancient Egyptians carried over 2.6 million limestone cubes through the Nile without help of aliens or any powerful and modern machines. They did it only with help of science!
Sphinx, is a mythical creature with the head of a human, and the body of a lion. They believed Sphynx is the protector of pyramids.
The inventions presented in this article, are just a small piece of the magnificent Egyptians' work, if I were to try to write about all of the inventions, this article would be endless.
